The 8141-20CM Commercial Defrost Control is a heavy-duty mechanical defrost timer designed for commercial refrigeration systems, including walk-in freezers, refrigerated cases and condensing units.

Designed for automatic management of refrigeration defrost cycles, the control uses time-initiated defrost operation with temperature- or pressure-based termination. This allows the refrigeration system to begin defrost at predetermined intervals while an external temperature or pressure control can terminate the defrost cycle when the required condition is reached.

Operating from a 208–240V AC, 60Hz timing motor, the 8141-20CM features a 1 Normally Open (N.O.) and 2 Normally Closed (N.C.) contact configuration. Its heavy-duty switching capability makes it suitable for demanding commercial refrigeration applications.

The control can be used with various defrost methods, including electric heat, hot-gas defrost and compressor/off-cycle defrost systems.

How It Works

During normal refrigeration operation, the mechanical timer advances continuously. At a preset time, the control switches the connected refrigeration system into its defrost cycle.

The defrost period can then be terminated by an external temperature or pressure control when the required defrost condition has been reached. A mechanical timed backup provides an additional method of ending the defrost cycle if necessary.
